Tennis fanatics can watch every match live online from the 2015 Wimbledon Championships starting Monday, as defending men’s champion Novak Djokovic, and seven-time winner Roger Federer begin their roads to what appears to be an inevitable showdown.
On the women’s side, Serena Williams faces what appears to be difficult journey as she goes for her sixth Wimbledon singles title — and what would be the third step of the Grand Slam. If Serena wins Wimbledon and follows that with a U.S. Open championship later in the summer, she’ll nail down the first calendar-year Grand Slam since 1988.
To find out how to watch every Wimbledon match live online, see the information at the bottom of this article. First-round play in the fortnight-long tournament begins at 11:30 a.m. local time in England on Monday, June 29 — 6:30 a.m. United States Eastern Time, 3:30 a.m. Pacific.
The Wimbledon draw laid out a treacherous path for Serena Williams as she attempts to make tennis history. Barring any upsets along the way, her path to the final will take her through three former World Number One ranked players, two of whom are also former Wimbledon champions.
Those likely opponents include her own sister, Venus Williams, who has also won Wimbledon five times, but starts the 2015 tournament as the 16th seed on the women’s side — meaning that Venus and Serena could face each other as early as the fourth round.
In addition to defeating her sister, Serena will also need to overcome either Victoria Azarenka or Ana Ivanovic in the quarterfinals — with Maria Sharapova lying in wait at the semifinal stage before Serena gets the chance to, if all goes according to plan, take on reigning Wimbledon Champion Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic for the title.
On Monday, Serena will face Russian Margarita Gasparyanm the world’s 113th-ranked player, in the opening match for both players, who have never faced each other on a tennis court.
In the men’s draw, Serbian top-seed Djokovic will need to bounce back after dropping the French Open final in four sets to Stan Wawrinka. Djokovic takes to center court Monday where he’ll face Germany’s Phillip Kohlschreiber.
Federer will take on Damir Dzumhur of Bosnia in his opener, as he goes for his record eighth Wimbledon title — and likely his last before the 34-year-old hangs up his racquet. It would be his first Wimbledon title since 2012.
Federer’s path will likely take him to a semifinal against Britain’s own Andy Murray, the host country’s best hope for keeping the All-England Club trophy at home.
