‘Insidious’ Error At Ohio Theater Sends Parents & Kids Packing

A bunch of kids who were expecting an animated Disney film at an Ohio theater were scared silly when the projectionist accidentally screened the PG-13 rated movie Insidious: Chapter 3 instead of the expected Inside Out.

It’s easy to imagine a cinema full of children, popcorn in hand, all excited and waiting to watch the new Disney Pixar movie Inside Out. However to their literal horror, scenes of kids being tied up and murdered appeared on the screen instead.

One parent of such a child posted to the Facebook page of Journal News, saying how she took five children to the Danbarry Cinema in Middleton last week to watch Inside Out.

Jazmyn Moore said that once they had their snacks in hand and had patiently sat through the various previews, the lights dimmed in the Ohio theater. But what appeared on the screen next terrified the children.

NBC noted that she and other adults in the theater immediately grabbed the scared children and rushed them out of the cinema.

According to a manager at Danbarry Cinema, the Ohio theater involved, an employee had accidentally screened the horror movie Insidious: Chapter 3 instead of Inside Out.

Declining to give a name, the manager said that the person in charge at the time of the error did apologize and give everyone a pass, along with an upgrade to watch the preferred Disney movie in 3-D. She also stressed there had been no further complaints since the mix up occurred.

According to parents, just because the first three characters of the movie title were the same was no excuse. Moore continued in her Facebook page by saying she got their money back “but the damage is already done.. my children are terrified and keep asking questions.”

Meanwhile Inside Out, the movie they were supposed to see, is the animated story of a young girl, uprooted from her Midwest life and moved to San Francisco. According to IMDB, “Her emotions – Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness – conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school.”

On the other hand, also according to IMDb, Insidious: Chapter 3 is “a prequel set before the haunting of the Lambert family that reveals how gifted psychic Elise Rainier reluctantly agrees to use her ability to contact the dead in order to help a teenage girl who has been targeted by a dangerous supernatural entity.”

While they both films feature a young girl, and as said before, the same three first letters, the stories could not be more different with the latter movie a terrifying experience for the young minds who experienced it at the Ohio theater.

That said, the Inquisitr did note that Insidious: Chapter 3 was receiving surprisingly strong reviews, most probably not from the parents involved in this article.
