President Obama Prefers Jay-Z, Calls Kanye West A “Talented Jackass”

President Obama is revving up to take on GOP presidential hopeful Mitt Romney in what will be a closely watched 2012 election period but on Thursday the president dealt with far more pressing matters, speaking with Atlantic‘s David Samuels about choosing the better rapper between Jay-Z and Kanye West.

According to President Obama he much rather prefers the music styling of New York rapper Jay-Z, although he still has respect for his fellow Chicagoan stating “Although I like Kanye.” Obama continues of West “He’s a Chicago guy. Smart. He’s very talented.

When Samuels points out that Obama at one point called Kanye West a “jackass” President Obama quickly quipped “He is a jackass. But he’s talented.”

It was that line of questioning that opens up Samuel’s 8,000-word profile into the life and times of Kanye West.

So why does President Obama prefer Jay-Z? Apparent it has to do with the fact that “Jay-Z is about control” while Samuels writes, “Jay-Z is about success. He’s a natural-born leader. … Jay-Z fills arenas and enunciates clearly—unlike Kanye West, who jumps onstage and interrupts during award ceremonies, cries on talk shows, and jets off to Rome to apprentice with the House of Fendi.”

Sure President Obama’s taste in rappers isn’t a hotly contested shakedown on ObamaCare, the economy or education in America but it does point to an interesting insight into President Obama’s mind, when all is said and done he’s going to give his props to talented people, even if he doesn’t necessarily agree with their views, now if only that viewpoint would carry over into bipartisanship.
