Iggy Azalea On Canceled Tour: ‘I Deserve A Break’
In recent weeks, Iggy Azalea has been in the news quite a bit. First, news broke that Azalea would cancel her North American tour. Then, Azalea was in the news because she got engaged to her boyfriend, professional basketball player Nick Young.
Now, Azalea is making headlines once again because the reason for her Great Escape tour cancellation has become a bit more clear: Iggy Azalea said she simply needed a break, according to the Guardian.
“On top of that, mentally, to be honest with you, I just feel I deserve a break. I’ve been going non-stop for the past two years, nearly every single day. I’m not in a bad place. I think sometimes when you say you need a mental break, people are like, ‘A mental break? Be sure you don’t have a breakdown because you’re sad.’ “
News of Azalea’s tour cancellation broke at the end of May. At the same time, Azalea tweeted an apology to her fans.
As u may know, the tour is cancelled. I’m so sad and sorry to let my fans down…we’ll be back out on the road when the next album is done.

It’s the second time Azalea has canceled her Great Escape tour. Originally, Iggy was scheduled to play the shows in April, and in March she decided to postpone them until September. Now, Azalea says she’ll play a series of live shows next year — after she’s come up with some new work, according to the Guardian.
“It can kind of wear on you, too, when you’ve been doing the same material for a really long time. Even though a lot of people just discovered it, I am a musician and a creative person and I want to be able to perform new stuff and do new things. I feel like I’m at the end of an era now. To go on a tour in late September and to stay in that mindset of what I’d envisioned for that tour, I feel like that would stifle me.”
Around the same time that her tour was canceled, the Inquisitr wrote an article titled “Has Iggy Azalea Become Pop’s Most Hated Star?” In that piece, the Inquisitr noted that, in addition to disappointing fans through two canceled tours, Azalea has become what he called a “hate figure” on social media.
“Azalea is subjected to more than her fair share of abuse from internet trolls because she has got into Twitter flame wars with too many other celebrities and because she moans and complains about just about anything.”
