‘Game Of Thrones’: Nikolaj Coster-Waldau Joins Coldplay Musical Tribute

Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage has already been featured in a Coldplay video for “Red Nose Day,” and now co-star and on-screen brother Nikolaj Coster-Waldau has contributed his own vocals to another song in a Game of Thrones musical. Instead of bragging about his survival like Dinklage, Coster-Waldau pays homage to his sister and the mother of his children, which are one and the same, of course — Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey.)

With a photo of Cersei displayed behind him and on his piano, Nikolaj makes his best romantic pleas to the woman who is now shutting him out in the cold, starting with his most obvious need.

“Could you lend me a hand? Because I’ve only got one…”

Nikolaj also sings about how he is looking “for something closer to home” and how their family tree has “a branch of their own.” For those who aren’t Game of Thrones fans, Queen Mother Cersei and her brother Jaime (Coster-Waldau) have spawned an entire incestuous brood in secret, pretending they are the children of the late King Robert Baratheon (Mark Addy.) Should their secret get out, the line of “heirs” Cersei has lined up would have no blood claim to the Iron Throne, and the Lannister family would lose their power and their current reign. Although there are other ways to lose the throne, such as being poisoned on your wedding day, the fate that befell Joffrey (Jack Gleeson.)

“Are you thinking about Joffrey? Such a spirited lad. I was his uncle. I was also his dad.”

If incest makes you cringe, Game of Thrones fans have been subjected to far worse, and far worse than the notorious Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) scene last week that has everyone in such an uproar. Yet despite a history of beheadings, castration, cannibalism, patricide, stabbing a pregnant woman in the belly before slitting her husband and mother-in-law’s throat, some Game of Thrones fans found Sansa’s wedding night offensive.

Apparently now incest appears tame by comparison and can even be funny.

Speaking of funny, Dinklage and Coster-Waldau aren’t the only cast members who got involved. Part of the Game of Thrones musical will pay homage to the infamous Red Wedding, according to Radio Times, including Kit Harington, Mark Addy, John Bradley, Iwan Rheon, Rose Leslie and Thomas Brodie-Sangster. There’s also been a teaser clip where Alfie Allen and Iwan Rheon meet in the studio, as the pair play the wretched Theon, the tormented and castrated prisoner of Ramsay, and Ramsay himself, the devil that savaged Sansa last week. Fortunately their real life encounters are less intense than the ones on Game of Thrones.
