Reasons Why ’19 Kids’ May Stay On Air After Josh Duggar Molestation Scandal And ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Didn’t

Mama June from Here Comes Honey Boo Boo has threatened to sue TLC if they do not pull 19 Kids and Counting from the network’s lineup following the molestation allegations. The conservative Christian Duggar family is under fire after a bombshell report shows that the oldest Duggar son, Josh Duggar, may have molested five young girls — including his sisters — when he was a teenager.

The Duggar family has made statements about the allegations and the “inexcusable” behavior of Josh as a teen, but TLC has yet to make a statement regarding the future of the show. However, Mama June says the network should have already pulled the plug on the show out of fairness. TLC cancelled Here Comes Honey Boo Boo within hours of pictures of convicted child molester Mark McDaniel and Mama June appearing in the media. However, are the two cases the same?

TMZ reports that Mama June is outraged over the possibility of the Duggar family staying on the air when her own show was cancelled over similar allegations. Mama June says that she will go so far as to sue TLC if they keep the Duggar family’s show on the air after they quickly cancelled her own show when it was reported that she was living with a convicted child molester who molested her own daughter Anna.

June points out that unlike Josh from 19 Kids and Counting, she was never investigated for molesting anyone. She also says that Mark McDaniel was never on the show, unlike Josh. She claims that the early cancellation of her show cost her “hundreds of thousands” of dollars, and she plans to seek restitution if the Duggar’s show is not cancelled. Shannon claims it would show “blatantly unfair and inconsistent treatment. She goes on to blast the Duggars over “family touch time” and says it isn’t right.

“I read that the Duggar family said, this happening with their son brought them closer to God and each other. So they’re saying it’s ok to have family touch time? Hell no.”

Despite Mama June’s assumptions that leaving the Duggars on the air would signify “unfair and inconsistent treatment,” is that really the case? There are a couple glaring differences in the Here Comes Honey Boo Boo cancellation and the possible 19 Kids and Counting cancellation. First, Josh Duggar has not been convicted of any crime. Though the police report was released to the media that indicates Josh Duggar was accused of molesting at least five young girls as a teenager, no charges were ever pressed. The family has admitted that Josh did some “inexcusable” things as a teen but did not come out and say exactly what those things were. The allegations suggested he touched the genitals of young females as they slept, but Josh never had a “day in court” to verify or falsify those claims. Instead, we are only able to see a small portion of the allegations made against the Duggar.

In addition to Josh never being convicted of the crime, he was a minor when the incident took place. Mark McDaniel was an adult when he molested Mama June’s daughter Anna. He served 10 years in prison for molesting Anna, but Mama June was seen with the molester just days after his release with her daughter Pumpkin in tow.

The Duggar family case is a little more tricky for TLC. Josh Duggar has not been convicted of any crime in a court of law and any event that happened took place when he was a minor. Do you think the two cases are the same? Should TLC immediately pull 19 Kids and Counting out of consistency since they quickly pulled Here Comes Honey Boo Boo over molestation issues?
