WATCH: Hungry Seal Enters Grocery Store From Harbor Looking For Food [Video]

A hungry seal enters a grocery store from the docks in search of food, and it’s all captured on video. The sea mammal waddled itself onto the dock and through the door of a market — surprising customers. The video below was released by The Fishermen’s Wharf in Charleston, Oregon.

After a few moments inside the store, the seal turned around. He wasn’t as interested in finding something to eat inside the store as he thought.

Employee, Matt Ledoux, tells KCBY that the seal has been a frequent resident around the store for years, but has never attempted entering it.

“He’s kind of an icon around here,” Ledoux said. “He’s like our little dog hanging out at the fish market.”

Ledoux thinks that the smart seal was finally tempted to go inside after watching customers exit the store with so much fresh fish. The smell may have finally been too much for him to ignore. Someone caught off guard by the hungry seal entering the store dropped a bag of food, but it only had fruit in it. The seal turned its nose up at the offer and went back to the dock.

Was there anything else out of the ordinary that might have caused the inquisitive seal to go inside the store?

“We had a lot of volcanoes and full moons and all sorts of weird stuff happening on the ocean, so we noticed that everything was being a little strange,” Ledoux added.

Apparently, the whole day was full of strange happenings before the hungry seal took it upon himself to see what he could find at the local market.

Animals have all kinds of tricks up their sleeve when it comes to surprising humans. They certainly have a sixth sense when it comes to unusual conditions in nature. The seal’s venture into the store it’s been around for six years doesn’t mean it’s that profound, but the coincidence is interesting.

The Inquisitr has written on other bizarre animal behaviors that have emerged. A bear broke into a Florida home to eat chocolate-covered Easter eggs. While this behavior is more typical of bears or other animals frequently seen in the news, it’s unusual for a seal to waddle right into a store. For this seal, it was a shock since he was a regular resident and had never taken advantage of the opportunity before. At the very least, he gave everyone a laugh for his latest antic.
