Disney Celebrates ‘Star Wars Day’ With New Merchandise And Star Wars Weekends


Monday, May 4 is also known as Star Wars Day. Some of your friends may have given you the clever greeting, “May the fourth be with you!” Even Disney is kicking off this day with Star Wars Weekends, new merchandise, and other exciting things to come.

Twist Magazine celebrated Star Wars Day by sharing a throwback photo of popular Disney Channel and Disney XD stars in an outer space-themed photo shoot. The shoot was taken in honor of the network’s Star Wars Rebels television show. Stars Olivia Holt, Kelli Berglund, G. Hannelius, and Rowan Blanchard dressed up in outfits inspired by the Stars Wars franchise.

Fans can also get their hands on some new merchandise from Disney. The company launched a limited line of Star Wars t-shirts and pins. The first pin from the collection is a Jedi Mickey that comes out on May 4th, while the second pin of Darth Goofy for Revenge of the 5th is set to release on Tuesday, May 5th. The Star Wars pins are available only at Disney’s Florida and California parks.

Jedi Mickey and Darth Goofy are also featured on t-shirts, water bottles, and artwork at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Star Wars fans who can’t make it to the parks can get purchase an “I am your Father’s Day” t-shirt featuring the Darth Vader at the Disney Store. It’s the perfect Father’s Day gift for any Star Wars dad.

The online store is also offering a 30 percent off sale on select Star Wars clothing and accessories. If you’re on the hunt for a lightsaber, the Star Wars Darth Vader Lightsaber is on sale for $20.96, according to Nerd Wallet. The Disney Store also has sales on Star Wars watches and office supplies.

Walt Disney World is also kicking off its annual Star Wars Weekends where Yoda (Frank Oz) and Palpatine (Ian McDiarmird) make their appearances for the first time. These weekends feature actors from the Star Wars films and animated movies, over 60 characters, Star Wars-inspired food and merchandise, and a special fireworks show. It runs during the weekends on May 15 to June 14.

The Disney Blog announced today that fans can show off their Star Wars Style for their chance to win a Walt Disney World Resort vacation for two. Eight semifinalists will also have the chance to win Star Wars-themed gift baskets. Fans must enter a photo of themselves in a Star Wars-inspired look at Star Wars Style. The contest runs now until June 1, 2015.

The Disney Line Cruise is also celebrating Star Wars Day by announcing the new Millennium Falcon kids space. This Star Wars-themed area on the Disney Dream will be added to the Oceaneer Club, a play area for kids ages 3 to 12, according to O.Canada. In the new play area, Kids can use simulators to launch a spaceship, play Star Wars video games, and enroll in the Jedi Training Academy to pick up on their lightsaber skills.
