Wife Rescues Husband Crushed By SUV On A Hunch: ‘A Spirit Told Me’ He Was In Trouble

Call it women’s intuition, the power of prayer, or just an amazing stroke of luck. In the end, the reason one Utah wife rushed home and ended up saving her husband’s life doesn’t matter. He’s alive after being trapped under an SUV for over an hour because of her odd feeling.

Nicole Mayhew was at work and her husband was tending to their SUV in the garage when “a spirit told me” he was in trouble, she told Fox 13 Now.

She was right. Her husband, Scott, had been praying for her to come home after the SUV fell off its jack and landed right on his chest, breaking six ribs and causing internal injuries.

“I was kind of on my side, reaching for a wrench when the car started to come down,” he revealed to ABC News. “I couldn’t move at all.”

But Scott said he knew his wife would show up, according to People.

“There was a lot of pain. I felt the car crushing me. I just knew if I hung on long enough, my prayers would be answered and she would know to come home.”

So he lay there, for an hour-and-a-half, listening to the cars drive by and struggling to catch his breath. Little did he know, Nicole was on her way, following her odd and sudden instinct. When she eased into the driveway, she knew her premonition had come true.

“So I got out and I heard my husband say, ‘help me love,’ and he was in the garage. I thought, ‘it’s on him, it’s got to be on him, the car,’ that’s what’s in my head, so I knew immediately.”

Scott said he was in pain and couldn’t breathe, then asked his wife to call 911; a neighbor arrived to help lift the SUV of his chest, with help of the jack, and the trio waited for the paramedics.

He was taken to the hospital where they determined that the SUV’s force broke six of his ribs and caused some internal injuries. If his wife hadn’t followed her gut and come to his rescue, this story would’ve ended much differently, paramedic Chad Pate said to ABC News.

“I consider him extremely lucky. I really think with her coming home as fast as she did in the time that she did, he could have lost his life had he been under the car much longer than that.”

As for Scott, attributes his miraculous rescue to his strong wife. But she believes a higher power was at work.

“I believe that you know there’s angels around us and my religion, my Heavenly Father was with him.”
