Zayn Malik Speaks Out On Life After One Direction

Former One Direction singer Zayn Malik hasn’t said much after his abrupt departure from one of the biggest boy bands in the world. This weekend, however, the singer broke his silence to say he’s been “doing alright.”

E! Online reports that Malik, 22, spent time at producer Naughty Boy’s studio on Sunday, where he opened up to The Sun about life after One Direction. Along with watching movies in his down time, Malik has been enjoying home cooked meals and simply taking it easy.

“All is good. I am doing alright.”

Yet, with rumors circulating about Malik embarking on a solo career, fans, as well as critics, are wondering why someone who wanted to leave a “normal life” is already setting foot into a studio. To make matters worse, Naughty Boy leaked a song earlier this month, insinuating that it was Malik’s new solo song. However, Naughty Boy retracted and now states that singer simply feels comfortable and at home in a studio.

“He just wants to get out of the house and comes here. He’s doing things that he hasn’t done for years. Coming to the studio is his way of chilling and he’s here with his friends.”

Malik also seems to be doing all the cooking for himself. He touted himself as a good cook and says he enjoys the process of making meals for himself and fiance, Perrie Edwards.

“I’m a good cook actually. I do all the cooking — you can ask.”

On Friday, the singer spoke about his former band mates at London’s 2015 Asian Awards. Amidst rumors of jealousy and anger among the boys, Malik set the record straight that there are no hard feelings between himself and One Direction, and that his experience with the band will stay with him for the rest of life.

Meanwhile, One Direction are taking a break before embarking on their European leg of their tour, On The Road Again. Although the remaining four guys vow to stay together and make another album, one member may be going in his own direction with a solo project. Louis Tomlinson recently launched his own record label, backed by Simon Cowell’s label, Syco.

As for Malik embarking on his own solo career, only time will tell. The singer has not confirmed that a solo project is in the works, though he has stated on numerous occasions that he prefers singing R&B tunes. If a solo project is indeed to come for Zayn Malik, fans may hear a new, more soulful sound from the Bradford boy, a sound that he didn’t get to express as much while part of One Direction.
