Cara Delevingne put to bed the misconception that models are untalented in any other area earlier this week when she belted out a song perfectly alongside Pharrell Williams in New York.
Their performance took place at Chanel’s Métiers d’Art show, which was held by Karl Lagerfield to present Chanel’s spring collection.
It took quite a lot of guts for Delevingne to get up on stage and perform because it was in front of a star-studded audience. According to MTV News, in the crowd was Beyonce, Julianne Moore, and Dakota Johnson.
Alongside Williams, Delevingne performed the song from their Chanel film for the first time. You can check out a teaser for their film, which is entitled Reincarnation, below, and features the pair dancing together.
Meanwhile, you can see a snippet of Delevingne proving that she can more than hold her own in the singing department courtesy of this Vine.
Unfortunately, Pharrell and Cara decided against wearing the gorgeous French renaissance era garments that they donned for the video, but they still managed to look rather dapper in their casual attire.
Describing the reasons for the video, via MTV News, Karl Lagerfeld explained, “It was time to show the origins of the Chanel jacket. ‘Reincarnation’ is the story of a lift attendant’s jacket being reincarnated as a timeless piece of women’s wear.”
Meanwhile, Cara Delevingne has also explained to USA Today why she celebrated reaching 10 million Instagram followers in such bizarre circumstance.
She captioned the picture of her covered in lipstick and fruit, “It seems like complete insanity that I have 10 million followers so I thought I would cover myself in fruit and write on my stomach in red lipstick which now won’t come off! This strange fruity thanks [sic] you is for you, especially the people who have supported me from the beginning! Lots of exciting things to come so watch this space.”
Delevingne’s explanation was that it was simply a spur of the moment thing, and she’s more than aware that it was peculiar.
“I dunno,” she admitted. “I had a little time to kill. It was fashion week. And it was really hot in my dressing room. And I was in my underwear anyways.”
She added, “And it was like, ‘Right we have red lipstick. Can you write, ’10 million on my stomach?’ And we had a massive, massive basket of fruit. And I couldn’t eat it in an hour, which is the time I had in (the dressing room). So why not put as much as you can on me? And then, ‘Let’s take a picture and see what happens. Maybe I’ll post it.’ And I did.”
But now that Delevigne has raised the stakes in such bizarre fashion, she has one pressing matter that she has to contend with.
“I just need to decide what I’m going to do for 20 million.”
