Courtney Love To Star In US Drama ‘Revenge’

Courtney Love is no stranger to being in front of the camera, having enjoyed a brief acting career in the late 1990s. Now it appears she is to star in the U.S. TV drama Revenge, a report from E! confirms. Love will play a recurring role in which her character will be named White Gold.

Her character will appear alongside Voulez magazine editor Margaux LeMarchal, who is played by Karine Vanasse (X-Men: Days Of Future Past).

Reports say Love became bored with music a few years ago while on tour and expressed an interest in returning to acting. She was offered the part after contacting director Lee Daniels. Love says she turned down offers to play rock stars in the past.

“Back in the day, I wouldn’t play rock stars. I got offered a lot of [those] parts, and I turned them down, but it’s a new time, and it’s a new dawn, and I’m really committed to doing this full-time whether it be theater or television or film.”

Courtney Love — who had a guest appearance in the final season of the hit show Sons Of Anarchy and starred alongside Jim Carrey in the 1999 film Man on the Moon — has expressed her desire to break into Hollywood once more, the Daily Mail reports.

“I’m 50 and this is a second shot at acting in general, and I’m so blessed… I love Lee so much for giving me this part and letting me come back to something that’s juicy and really exciting.”

Love began her career in music, forming the alternative rock band Hole in 1989. While Hole enjoyed relative success in the music scene, Courtney is most known for her relationship with the late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain. Their relationship was well-documented when the two become romantically involved during Hole’s Pretty on the Inside tour in 1991.

However, since the death of Kurt Cobain in 1994, Courtney Love has caused controversy in the media, most notably between her and ex-Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl.

Her last major role was playing alongside Charlize Theron and Kevin Bacon in 2002’s Trapped. Arguably her most successful role was her part in The People vs Larry Flynt, where she not only got to star opposite Woody Harrelson, she was also nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance.

In the film, which portrayed the life of Hustler publisher Larry Flynt, she played the mogul’s fourth wife, Althea Leasure.

Courtney Love’s appearance as White Gold in ABC’s Revenge will premiere in the U.S. on March 29.
