Dakota Johnson Begs Her Mom To Watch ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ In New ‘SNL’ Promo [Video]

The new video titled “SNL Host Dakota Johnson and Taran Killam Beg Her Mom To Watch Fifty Shades of Grey” by Saturday Night Live is going seriously viral, receiving more than 10,000 views within six hours since it was uploaded to YouTube. Seeing as though Dakota Johnson famously had a run-in with her mom, Melanie Griffith, at the Oscars on Sunday due to Griffith’s hesitation to watch her famous movie, the SNL promo is a fitting next step for the mother-daughter duo’s feud.

Dakota Johnson’s moment with Melanie Griffith at the Oscars gained plenty of buzz within itself, with viewers calling it one of those mother-daughter arguments that seem so common and ordinary between two people who love one another. However, the fact that Griffith hasn’t seen Dakota in Fifty Shades of Grey was also deemed an awkward interview at the Oscars, as reported by the Inquisitr? — with Griffith offering up the reasoning that it would be kind of strange to watch her daughter in the film, and tried to compliment Dakota by saying she doesn’t have to see the movie to know that her daughter is a great actress. Dakota, meanwhile, made her frustration with her mom apparent by continuing to implore Melanie to see the move.

Now Dakota has taken her case one step further by adding the melee into the promo for Saturday Night Live, wherein Johnson is set to host — with musical guest Alabama Shakes — on February 28, 2015.

As far as the shock factor of Fifty Shades of Grey goes, that could be one reason that Griffith doesn’t want to see her daughter in the film. Outside of the naked scenes of Dakota in the much-talked-about movie, there is the BDSM factor, which might be hard for a mom to witness her daughter endure, even if it is in a fictional setting. But when it comes to sex scenes or salacious roles, fans of Melanie Griffith need look no further than her role in movies like Body Double, wherein Griffith played the sexy Holly Body before she took on her memorable role in Working Girl.

Whether Melanie actually decides to bow to the pressure from her daughter Dakota to see Fifty Shades of Grey or not, viewers of Saturday Night Live can most likely expect plenty of Fifty Shades sketches on SNL this weekend. Already the SNL promo featured two gray neckties.
