Families Of 6 Men Killed In South Africa Want Their Penises Back

Last year six men, aged 18 to 30, were murdered in Kraaifontein, South Africa and apparently their private parts were removed. Now the families of the dead are demanding the return of their penises so that their remains are intact.

Apparently the six men were killed by a mob in a justice attack, because they allegedly committed theft. However, the families of the dead now believe they were killed for their missing appendages.

The six victims were found on a farm close by in December last year. According to Eyewitness News, they were seen to have been stoned and stabbed to death and their bodies were found face down and hog-tied.

Members of the victims’ families only revealed on Tuesday this week that during the brutal attack, their family members had been mutilated and their penises had been chopped off.

According to IOL, in December last year, 17 suspects were arrested in connection with the murders and they appeared in court on Tuesday this week on a bail application. The various family members of the victims and other local residents attended the bail hearing, demanding the suspects remain in jail. Chants were heard in the courtroom of “no bail, no bail.”

Madimpho Masiu, 30, is the sister of one of the victims, Lulama Dunga. She said that should the suspects get bail, they will continue killing. However, she does want to know why they mutilated their family members.

She added that maybe their wanted the victims’ body parts for “ukuthwala,” a type of “get rich quick” ritual in South Africa and said that the family wants the body parts returned.

“Our ancestors want his body in full so they can welcome him.”

Speaking on behalf of the other families, Madimpho said they cannot understand why the six men were murdered so brutally. Rumors were that the men had stolen money or other items but the families don’t believe that. Madimpho is now convinced the killing was for the men’s penises.

“We were then told they stole stokvel [savings] money. We do not know which is which, leading us to conclude that they were killed for those missing penises.”

Nofomile Ngxabela, 54, lost her two sons in the killing and says their penises were also removed. She is worried that the accused will kill them if they are released on bail but is demanding the return of their body parts.

Ngxabela said the families want the suspects to tell them where their son’s penises are, so they can bury them properly in line with tradition in South Africa.

“Black culture dictates that someone be buried with his body intact.”

The bail hearing was held over until Friday, February 27th as apparently lawyers for the 17 suspects were not prepared to proceed.
