Facebook Follows Suit With Data Sharing

Facebook is following in the steps of MySpace with a new data sharing service, just one day after its competitor announced almost the exact same feature.

The new “Facebook Connect” was revealed late this afternoon. The utility will let users link their Facebook accounts with external sites to share data and create a dynamic environment. The site’s Developers Blog says it’ll function with “partner web sites” but does not go on to specify what those sites might actually be. Some of the graphics indicate Digg may be on-board, but the text itself never goes into detail.

The feature is expected to launch sometime in the next several weeks.

Color me unimpressed.
