Marine Le Pen Calls For Border Security In France

Marine Le Pen, leader of the Front National party in France, has called for tighter border security after the terrorist attack on Charlie Hebdo, the Guardian reported today. Le Pen called for the government of France to implement border security in a statement in reaction to the attack.

“The French far-right leader, Marine Le Pen, says on Friday she has asked president François Hollande to suspend Schengen Area Agreement to be able to better control the country’s borders after the deadly shooting of 12 people in Paris and subsequent hunt for the suspects. The Schengen Area Agreement is made up of 26 European countries that have removed passport control on their internal borders,” the Guardian reported.

The terrorist attack on Charlie Hebdo may lead to the rise of Marine Le Pen’s Front National party, the Telegraph recently reported. Le Pen is offering a message that is tough on immigration and “murderous ideology” she sees behind the terrorist attack by Muslim extremists.

Her success has been the most visible sign of the rising tide of Islamophobia in France, which increased again in the wake of several attacks in December. In the aftermath of the Charlie Hebdo attack, Miss Le Pen made a passionate speech about a “murderous ideology” leading to an “odious attack,” the Telegraph reported about Marine Le Pen’s response to the terrorist attack on Charlie Hebdo.

“It is my responsibility to make sure that the fear is overcome,” Le Pen said. “This attack must instead free our speech about Islamic fundamentalism. We must not be silenced.”

Le Pen made clear that free speech and those who exercise it should not be intimidated by terrorist attacks of Muslim extremists. Marine Le Pen also called for re-instating the death penalty in France, Newsweek reported.

“The leader of France’s resurgent far-right party Front National (FN), Marine Le Pen has called for France to bring back the death penalty, in light of the attack (on Charlie Hebdo) in Paris on Wednesday,” Newsweek reported on Le Pen’s reaction to the attack.

Marine Le Pen has issues comments critical of Muslims in the past. Le Pen blasted proposals to offer non-pork alternatives in the school lunch menu, the Inquisitr reported.

“France’s National Front leader Marine Le Pen has slammed down hard on the recent suggestion to changes in the menu served at public schools. ‘Eat pork or go hungry,’ Marine reportedly told the RTL Radio. Far-right National Front leader Marine Le Pen confirmed that the party would prevent schools from offering non-pork alternatives to Muslim pupils,” the Inquisitr reported.
