Sensis White Pages lists Catholic Church under magic shop

whitepages

The Australian White Pages, published by Telstra subsidiary Sensis, has a rather interesting way of categorizing the Catholic Church: under magic shop.

A search for “magic shop” under businesses in Queensland returns the primary listing for the Catholic Church, along with all the instances of the church in the state.

While the atheist in me immediately finds this amusing, and an accurate description, I doubt somehow that the Catholic Church will.

(thx to MR for the tip)

Well, I'm annoyed by the mocking of my Church, but we are so used to this kind of slight that we are basically immune. Upon further cogitation however, maybe magic is a suitable heading after all. For what Jesus and The Holy Spirit have accomplished in my wretched soul IS nothing short of magic.

May God help them and have mercy on them. They are so lost and deceived by the evil one. But we must remember, Jesus told us that the gates of hell will not prevail against His Church.

  3. Looks like the atheists have nothing better to do than take more silly swipes at the Church. As usual.

Maybe an atheist out there can answer a question for me: If you think that all religion is bogus because you're certain there is no God, then why does religion irk you so? So many atheists seem to make a habit of reading news articles pertaining to the Catholic Church in particular and Christianity in general…so they can mock it. Why is that? I don't believe that Hinduism is a true religion, but I don't continually bash it's followers and call them stupid, etc. Why is it that so many atheists seem to have this nasty streak that causes them to lash out at all things religious? I just don't get it.

While on the subject of the Catholic Church……please look up on google…”Bella Dodd”. I never knew any of these things she testified to under oath about the Catholic Church in the 1940's. Every thing she swore to has come to pass. I looked her up on the free encyclopedia…wikipedia and went to many other sources to confirm what I read. OMG…..it explains everything! JBNS

  5. Whoever thought up that description of the Catholic church is disrespectful and ignorant. I feel very sorry for them.

All we have to do is look around us and what do we see, a God of Order, complete Order but it is man that continues to destroy self and so once again we close up to an end of Era, Sin and disobedience. This Nations wanted God out and so there will be consequences since He is the God of All Nations. Evil seems to be winning but at the end, Jesus is the Victorious Holy One. We are called to be holy and saints, to live the Gospel message, to live and follow Christ in His spiritual life and we are not alone if we would only listen to His promises, teachings with conviction, mind you and picture His life, calling out to His Abba Father. We have to focus on the Holy Trinity and pray also pray hard for non believers. If a non believer loves he is blind and not able to hear because he doesn't believe in His Creator. God is Love, God is All. These are the days that our Lord spoke about, many are not believing in Sound Doctrine but in false gods and prophets. They live a life of sin and we are called to repent and live a life of grace by the help and amazing grace of God. The Last Supper was our first Mass but many miracles by Jesus led to the Eucharist, the Source and Summit of our Faith. Faith is the root to a supernatural life. Look at Europe and see liberalism coming this way, NO, it is here! The Sacred Word means nothing to many, yet, He, our Lord is the Eternal Life and our Blessed mother said, “Do As He Ask you To Do”. Focus on our Master, Jesus Christ and believe me, there is no other life, no other way, no other Light. The New Age, New American Church gave birth and now we have to work harder to bring back, help gather the flock that are scattered. This came about misinterpretation from Vatican 11. Liberalism. Jesus love you, do as YOU PLEASE!. I don't think SO…….We need to pray and go back to “MY Father House Of Prayer”, where it all begins for us in community, family and unity, standing firm in the TRUTH OF LONG AGO. Together we build! Catholics and all Christians better gather together each where they are in Christ but the times are coming where we need each other in Christ as sisters and brothers. It's not coming, it is here now! I am a Roman Catholic and nothing has been able to serparate me from God nor lose my faith in the Catholic Relgion. Yet, I respect others of different faith and beliefs. Respect but I speak the truth I received from the Holy Spirit and share what God give me with others. Everyday we keep growing and learning. We need to pray for transformation, change of heart that brings a change of soul to God. We are born to love Him with our ALL and to serve Him, our Abba Father, Holy Trinity. The Eucharist is what feeds our souls, God, Jesus Christ, the Eternal Life Himself. He works through us. Each one of us are unique to God in the gifts He bestows upon us. Each one of us are being used differently as we love, respect and worship our God who is Spirit, in respect and reverence. God bless and keep praying. Do as He ask you to do! Lissette, Lay Dominican.

  7. Well, what exactly is so wrong about this? Church, religion, magic… Fits, doesn't it?

Anyway, here's a nice quote from Stephen Roberts:

“I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours.”
