Christian Church Celebrates Abortions With Cook-off, Celebration Sparks Controversy: Hypocrisy?

One church is being scrutinized for their upcoming “celebration” and support of abortion. According to EAG News, the St. James Episcopal Church of Wichita, Kansas will be hosting a celebration commemorating abortion in honor of “woman’s choice.” On Thursday, Jan. 22, the cook-off, dubbed “Chili For Choice,” will take place at the church. Planned Parenthood of Kansas & Mid-Missouri released a flyer promoting the event and encouraging the sponsorship of the controversial cause.

That particular date commemorates the 42nd anniversary of the legalization of “child killing” by way of abortion under the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision. Prior to the legalization, abortion was considered a crime but the Supreme Court decision rendered the previous statutes void under the 9th and 14th amendments. Although abortions are acceptable from a legal perspective, it is strongly opposed where religion is concerned, which is why the church has been scrutinized for its support of Planned Parenthood and the act of “baby slaughtering.”

From a biblical stance, although the word “abortion” is never mentioned in the bible, it is categorized as an act of condemnation because it calls for the shedding of innocent blood. Since abortion is the defined as the “deliberate termination of pregnancy,” it arguably goes against the biblical commandment that opposes killing. From the moment of conception, the embryo is considered a human being, so the act of abortion is considered “killing.” Various scriptures in the bible speak about abortion and strongly discourage it.

Here are a few of the scriptures:

“They mingled with the nations and learned their works…They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to demons, and they shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and their daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, desecrating the land with bloodshed.” (Psalm 106:35, 37-38)

“They mutilated their sons and daughters by fire…till the Lord, in his great anger against Israel, put them away out of his sight.” (2 Kings 17:17-18)

Since the bible strongly opposes abortion, many have been left to wonder how “Christians” could support such a controversial event. Many readers have had no reservations about expressing their disdain for the church’s blatant hypocrisy.

“No one in their right mind could celebrate the killing of a baby. Legally, it may be your choice, but in the end, you have to answer for that choice. The real church should be screaming, but this transcends even church. How can one kill their offspring? What heartless evil people and then to celebrate it? I really think we know who their god is.”

“What God do they worship? Sure not the God i worship. ‘Though shall not kill’ said my God.”

“Woe unto the St. James Episcopal Church in Kansas and Mid Missouri for they are all hypocrites just like the Scribes & Pharisees because this church are hypocrites that are white washed tombs filled with dead man’s bones & all corruption.”
