Gas Station Bathroom Viral Video Star Paid By Shell Oil


As it turns out, a recent video of a fancy Shell Oil gas station was, in fact, filmed by a TV star and model that does regular professional film work with Shell Oil in Asia. However, no online information appears to support that this model and actor was paid to promote Shell Oil gas stations or bathrooms with videos, and it can be assumed that this is a coincidence.

While American gas station bathroom videos often depict horrors, viewers are shocked by a fancy gas station bathroom video taken in the Philippines. Many recent headlines about Shell Oil and the Philippines have been reported by the Business Insider as centering around how a oil market crash has affected this country.

On a lighter note, news agencies around the world are exclaiming that the Shell gas station video in the Philippines is awe-inspiring — on top of being “ridiculous.” Media sources have also been interviewing the filmmaker about his experiences about the Bohol, Philippines, gas station bathroom video going viral.

Posted on December 11, 2014, the YouTube video by BigSmileNoTeeth shows footage of Jason Godfrey outside of a gas station bathroom in the Philippine city of Bohol. Already over the 3 million views mark and with over 7,600 likes, the video shows Godfrey, a Filipino-Canadian model, at a standard white stucco Shell Oil gas station bathroom complete with the Shell Oil yellow-colored trim.

Originally, Godfrey published the gas station bathroom footage on his Facebook page, where it has received over 1.5 million views since late November, 2014. As a model and actor that is well-known in Asia, Jason Godfrey says he does not usually make personal videos like the gas station bathroom video, but is no stranger to Shell Oil.

In fact, in September, 2014 Godfrey appeared in a teaser for the Shell Oil-sponsored TV series TEN on the AXN network that is aired throughout Asia and on the December 2014 cover of Malaysia’s Men’s Health magazine. Godfrey was also recently nominated for his work in LiTV’s 2013 Jason Down Under mini-series for the Best Lifestyle Program at the Asian Television Awards.

According to the Season 2 teaser for TEN posted on YouTube, the show is “Hosted by Filipino-Canadian host Jason Godfrey, TEN Season 2 showcases ten exciting destinations in the country, and at the same time demonstrates performance that excites through the ten most exciting drives fueled by Shell V-Power Nitro+ Performance Fuels.”

According to an interview by Time Attack Manila, “As TEN‘s fuel partner, Pilipinas Shell hopes that the show inspires Filipino motorists to go on their own exciting drive around the country… using Shell V-Power Nitro+ of course.”

Yahoo Travel reports that when Godfrey opens the door to this Bohol, Philippines, bathroom that it “looks immaculate, with wood shelves, neatly arranged magazines, framed art, and a soft piano tune playing. And lest you think the smell is of a typical toilet, Godfrey admires the ‘menthol’ aroma inside.”

In the video, Godfrey says the Shell gas station is “ridiculous” and, “This toilet is better than my room. It’s better than my entire apartment actually.”

Now that the Shell Oil gas station bathroom video has gone viral, social media is posting their comments about the level of swank that this bathroom provides. One YouTube account holder, QwertyLee, announced that there was at least five bathrooms like this in the Bohol and Cebu.
