Is It Possible To Be A Gay Christian? This Pastor Doesn’t Think So

One gay Christian in New Zealand learned the hard way that many within his faith aren’t ready to accept the homosexual lifestyle. However, it was one response in particular that “stung.”

Jim Marjoram, author of a book called It’s Life Jim, that was meant to give hope to other gay Christians who haven’t found acceptance within their faith, received the response from a Pastor Logan Robertson of the Westcity Bible Baptist Church.

While other church leaders that Marjoram had reached out to simply didn’t respond, Robertson had plenty to say.

“We are not interested in your filthy lifestyle or book,” wrote Robertson in an email. “Romans 1 clearly says God has rejected homos and they are worthy of death. You cannot be saved.”

As if that wasn’t harsh enough, Robertson saved his most biting commentary for the end.

“I pray that you will commit suicide, you filthy child molesting f*g.”

Marjoram posted the text and a screenshot on his Facebook page, sending the image viral. Stuff NZ reached out to Robertson for comment and asked him if he regretted the email.

“No,” Robertson said. The church does appear to be doubling down on some of the backlash at its comments targeting the gay Christian. They’ve released a series of hostile Facebook messages to their critics since the Inquisitr first reported on this story.

Genesis 19:24
Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven;

Hebrews 13:8
Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

Truth is Hate to those who Hate the Truth.

If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to DEATH; their blood shall be upon them. Leviticus 20:13

As for the part of the Bible Robertson originally referred to, Romans 1, the cited text starts in verse 21 and runs through 27:

21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.

24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

Do you think Westcity Bible Baptist Church should apologize to the gay Christian man for the pastor’s comments, and what of the Bible verses that speak out directly against homosexuality? Does this make it impossible for a gay Christian to reconcile with their chosen faith? Share your thoughts in our comments section.
