Albino Deer Killed In Missouri, Hunter Receives Death Threats After Controversial Kill

Albino deer are a rare and beautiful sight, but that didn’t stop a hunter from Missouri from shooting and killing one earlier this week. Jerry Kinnaman spotted the animal in the early morning hours on Tuesday while out hunting, and then he took its life.

It was 85 yards away when he first spotted it, but Kinnaman was an experienced hunter. The animal didn’t stand a chance. He shot a crossbow at the animal when it was 14 yards away, but the bolt only grazed the albino deer, reported the Southeast Missourian. His second shot pierced the animal’s side from 25 feet.

After Kinnaman “harvested” the albino deer, he posted photos of his kill on Facebook along with a message for potential critics.

“Let the bashing begin!”

A photo of the dead albino deer posted online shows the beautiful animal lying lifeless on the ground, which is carpeted with dry leaves. The creature’s snow white coat is stained with bright red blood, and the hunter’s crossbow hovers over the animal’s body.

The hunter’s prediction was correct. The bashing has already begun. According to a report by the Washington Post, Kinnaman told reporters that he has received death threats following his controversial killing of the albino deer which was well known by folks in the Cape Girardeau community.

Despite bagging the animal as a trophy, Kinnaman said he is taking steps to ensure the community will be able to continue enjoying the animal by donating its stuffed and mounted form to a local nature center, maybe. His taxidermist had some interesting observations about the deer, saying its teeth were in poor condition. The albino deer was emaciated and old – Kinnaman claimed it would have died within a year if it hadn’t been killed.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, another albino deer made headlines earlier this year when a pre-teen boy shot and killed the rare animal with a crossbow. Gavin Dingman killed the deer in Michigan, where the killing of such animals was outlawed until 2009. Five other states currently prohibit the slaughter of albino deer, including Illinois, Iowa, Montana, Tennessee, and Wisconsin.

For his efforts, 11-year-old Dingman got a trophy buck that his family plans to stuff and mount. He also received numerous death threats. As the Inquisitr previously reported, the boy’s father said the kill made his son feel like a “rock star,” but that didn’t stop the boy from receiving “death threats and everything else you can imagine” after the story of his killing the albino deer went viral online.
