Kate Upton Caught On Kiss Cam With Justin Verlander, Couple Endures Unbearable Cuteness

Kate Upton fell victim to the Kiss Cam Tuesday night, one of the oldest and some might say most hackneyed gimmicks that sports arenas use to make sure fans don’t get too bored and restless during lulls in the action during big-time sports events. But when the victim of the Kiss Cam is buxom Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Kate Upton, even the most cynical crowds are likely to forgive the otherwise tired stunt.

Upton was attending an NBA game in Cleveland, pitting the Cleveland Cavaliers against the Milwaukee Bucks, alongside her own pro athlete romantic partner, Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander.

The couple have had an up and down year. While Verlander struggled through a subpar season on the mound before seeing his Tigers team quickly eliminated from the playoffs, Upton — though she saw success is her first major film role in the sex comedy The Other Woman, which took in $112 million at the box office — was one of the highest-profile victims of a hacking scandal in which hundreds of private, nude photos of female celebrities were leaked onto the internet.

The nude photo leak also violated Verlander’s privacy as well, as he reportedly appeared in some of the nude photos with his girlfriend.

But the atmosphere was far more innocent at Tuesday night’s Cavaliers game in Cleveland, where 22-year-old Kate Upton and her 31-year-old baseball All Star boyfriend took up courtside seats, as they watched NBA superstar Lebron James lead his hometown Cavaliers to victory over the Bucks.

Results of the game took a back seat to the celebrity couple, when the infamous Kiss Cam at Quicken Loans Arena turned their way.

The glamorous pair were about to share a cute kiss, but never got to complete the act, however — because Cavaliers mascot “Moondog” found them first and proceeded to shower both Upton and Verlander with ersatz canine kisses. The site DieHardSport caught the excruciatingly adorable moment on video, posting a Vine of the memorable event.

Thanks to the return of Lebron “King” James to his original team this season after four seasons with the Miami Heat, Cleveland seems to have supplanted Los Angeles as the prime destination for celebrity basketball fans to see a game — and be seen.

Along with Kate Upton and Justin Verlander, New York Yankees pitcher C.C. Sabathia also turned up at Tuesday’s game and numerous other celebs have already showed their faces in Cleveland so far in 2014.

Kate Upton, however, is the first to be caught on Kiss Cam.
