Kendall Jenner Helping Magazines Stay Relevant With New ‘Dazed’ Cover

In its latest issue, Dazed magazine sought to identify who is “set to redefine the future of style and youth culture in 2015 and beyond,” and Kendall Jenner secured top spot on the list. The publication names 100 people who are “renegades” in fashion, film, art and music.

Jenner shot two artistic covers for the magazine: one a colorful pic of her holding a leather teddy bear and the other a black-and-white shot in a fashionable military-inspired jacket. The 19-year-old celebrated by tweeting pictures of the final product.

The Guardian quotes Dazed editor Isabella Burley as to why Jenner stands out.

“What’s so interesting with Kendall is that everyone’s seen her grow up on reality TV and has seen every aspect of her life through Instagram, but at the same time she has been embraced by fashion world. At the shows, some people don’t even notice it’s her. And yet many of her followers on social media would not necessarily know what goes on at a Chanel show. She is letting a whole generation see the workings of the fashion industry, which is really exciting.”

The Guardian notes print publications remain relevant by partnering with models, like Jenner, who have large social media followings. In a separate article, Dazed revealed that in the few days after Jenner became the face of Estée Lauder, the brand’s social media following increased by 50,000.

In the new Dazed interview, Jenner denies she’s been bullied by fellow models. As quoted by the Cut, Jenner said rumors women put cigarettes out in her drink were completely false.

She did say her family has been supportive of her career, keeping track of her successes and sending her support before every gig.

“Every show, no matter how many shows I’ve done, I get a text message from every single one of them. But I love it. I couldn’t ask for a better reaction.”

Kendall’s wave of high-fashion success comes as her sister made news for posing nude on the cover of Paper magazine. While Kim Kardashian’s pictorial raised some eyebrows with the speculation it might have been Photoshopped, Kendall has landed some highly respectable modeling contracts. In addition to her work with Lauder, Jenner has been a runway model for such big fashion names as Tommy Hilfiger, Fendi, Chanel and Gucci.

Dazed reported that Karl Lagerfeld chose Kendall to appear in his SS15 campaign and photographed her and other models personally in his Paris studio.
