Owner Saves Dog From Python’s Death Squeeze, K-9 Has 9 Lives Too? [Video]

Perhaps the old saying should be written to say, “A man is a dog’s best friend. ” One such K-9 is lucky to be alive, and its owners are credited with saving the dog from a python attack. Just when the snake was preparing to constrict the pooch to death, a man comes to the rescue, according to a report by the Telegraph on the snake encounter.

This odd news story has a bizarre beginning. But thankfully, it has a warm and fuzzy ending for the dog and its owner in Karnataka, India. As the video begins, the hapless animal, which resembles a deer due to the quality of the video, is trapped in the clutches of a large python. The dog is motionless and appears as if its days were already numbered. However, judging by a person now known to be the dog’s owner, there is some life left in its companion.

The man begins beating the snake with a tree branch, which looks like it has no effect on the scaly skin of the reptile. However, it begins to uncoil as the dog’s owner continues his unrelenting thrashing. And, as if it were raised from the dead, the dog begins to wiggle free. Moments later, the python snake is seen slithering into the thick of the brush. And the nearly dead-dog-walking begins to show its brave side by leaving its grim reaper with some parting barks.

Python snakes are among the largest serpents in the world and are in the same class as the giant anaconda and boa. These cold-blooded reptiles can grow up to 30 feet or more and can consume prey several times larger than its own body, according to Kids Zone.

Pythons are constrictors, which means that they will ‘squeeze’ the life out of their prey. They coil themselves around their prey and with each breath the creature takes, the snake will squeeze a little tighter until they stop breathing completely. Once the heart stops, the prey is swallowed whole.”

These large snakes often make their homes in trees and caves. However, as humans encroach on their habitat, they are forced to move into residential areas and seek domestic prey such as livestock, cats and yes — even dogs.

The owner saved his dog from the clutches of the python’s grip. Check out the video and prepare to root for the underdog.
