‘Batman V Superman’ Filming: Bruce Wayne, Clark Kent At Smallville Cemetery, Who Died?
Here we go again. New Batman v Superman set photos from Illinois have surfaced showing a scene at the Smallville cemetery with much of the main cast present.
Even though we don’t know at what point in the film this particular scene will show up, there are some clues that we can explore if we go back to the events that transpired in Man of Steel. You may remember that the blockbuster ended with the epic fight between Superman (Henry Cavill) and General Zod (Michael Shannon).
Pure destruction ensued and scores of people were killed, when the two aliens used all their might against each other and resulted in Zod’s demise. Some theorize that a funeral for one of the Daily Planet employees will take place at the fictitious Smallville cemetery, located in Yorkville, Illinois. But who?
According to Movie Web, someone with access to the set spotted some of the main stars of Batman v Superman were present at this particular scene including Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck (Batman/Bruce Wayne), and Lois Lane (Amy Adams). Another eyewitness saw Diane Lane (Martha Kent) and Laurence Fishburne (Perry White) also present during filming.
The fact that Adams and Fishburne were part of the scene could mean the funeral is for a Daily Planet employee killed during the legendary fight. This is the same cemetery in which Clark and Lois met in Man of Steel, when he was visiting the tomb of his late father, Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner).
From the Batman v Superman set photos it is obvious the characters are attending a funeral. It is unclear, however, who is being buried. Take a look at this photos which shows Ben Affleck wearing a black suit.

Without knowing where this scene will appear in the movie, the question that is in everyone’s mind is: who would bring Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent out at the same time? While the thought that a Daily Planet employee was buried here is viable, one of the more plausible theories is that this is Lex Luthor’s funeral.
Of course, this is to be taken with the proverbial grain of salt, as we don’t have any details about the Batman v Superman plot. We do know that Batman and Superman are not friends — as the Zack Snyder film’s title suggests — however, at some point in the storyline they put their differences aside to form the Justice League.
