Jill Duggar Dillard And Jessa Duggar Vanish From Social Media, Cause Speculation About Absence

Jill Duggar Dillard and younger sister Jessa Duggar used to have a very large presence on social media — the girls used their Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram accounts to keep fans updated on their lives and to share thoughts about their faith. However, the 19 Kids and Counting stars have been unusually silent lately.

The Hollywood Gossip speculates that a few recent controversies have something to do with the girls’ much quieter social media accounts. Jill Duggar Dillard has been slightly more active than Jessa Duggar, but she’s no longer posting weekly baby bump photos. Jill’s only Instagram post this month has been the car selfie below.

It was accompanied by an innocuous caption about her husband, Derick Dillard.

“Waitin’ in the parking lot for my hubby to get off work! Can’t wait to see him! #jamesduggar #jillmdillard #derickdillard #cantwaittoseehubby”

The Hollywood Gossip suggests that Jessa Duggar’s controversial posts about abortion and radiometric dating have had something to do with both girls’ lack of social media activity. Jessa caused a media firestorm when she seemingly compared abortion to the Holocaust, and things got really ugly when the anti-abortion activist’s future father-in-law joined the fray — Ben Seewald’s father called Jessa’s critics “Hitler’s doppelgangers.”

Jessa Duggar’s last Facebook post was on October 5, and it was a link to an article questioning the age of the Earth and criticizing the use of radiometric dating methods to prove that the planet is 4.54 billion years old. Duggar believes that the globe is just thousands of years old. The Hollywood Gossip also pointed out that Ben Seewald has stayed off social media since October 4.

It’s possible that Jill Duggar Dillard and Jessa Duggar made the decision to avoid social media because of the negative attention that some of Jessa’s posts received, but there’s also the possibility that TLC asked the girls and their significant others to cut back on their social media usage. The network proved that it has a problem with the Duggars using their 19 Kids and Counting notoriety to make political statements when it censored the family’s anti-abortion T-shirts during a recent episode of the reality show.

It appears as though TLC wants to focus more on babies, relationships, and weddings than the religious and political views of the reality show family. 19 Kids and Counting has featured Jessa Duggar and Jill Duggar Dillard more than the rest of the family this season, and the girls are certainly the series’ biggest headline makers.

It’s also possible that TLC has asked the Duggars to use their social media accounts less because the network wants fans to turn to the official 19 Kids and Counting website for updates on the family. As Hollywood Life points out, Jill recently provided the video pregnancy update below on the TLC website instead of using her Instagram account like she had been doing.

Obviously TLC also wants Duggar fans to tune in to 19 Kids and Counting to keep up with the family instead of turning to their social media accounts. As The Inquisitr previously reported, Jill Duggar Dillard teased that she’s making a big announcement on the show on the October 21 episode titled “All About Jill.” There’s speculation that she’s going to tell her fans that she’s carrying twins.

Why do you think Jill Duggar Dillard and Jessa Duggar have stopped posting on social media as often as they used to?
