Bob Marley fans have one more sweet reason to remember the reggae singer-songwriter, musician, and guitarist from Jamaica. Iconic ice cream maker Ben & Jerry’s has immortalized the popular artist in ice cream. If the Vermont creamery is right, Bob Marley’s memory tastes a lot like bananas.
Satisfy My Bowl is one of the latest ice cold creations from the kings of creamy pint-sized decadence. It features not only the aforementioned banana ice cream but also caramel and cookie swirls, bite-sized chocolate peace signs, and a heaping helping of nostalgia.
“The frozen treat release marks the 30th anniversary of his album Legend, and proceeds will go towards the Marley family 1LoveFoundation,” reported Metro. Bob Marley’s widow and children founded 1Love in his honor. It seeks to raise funds for various projects on a rotating basis. Thus far, the organization has helped change the live of more than 255,250 lives, according to their website.
In the United Kingdom, the new Bob Marley-inspired flavor goes live on September 15, 2014. There is no word on when the flavor might make its way into stores in the United States, if ever, but the anniversary of Legend by Bob Marley and the Wailers was on May 8. The compilation album was initially released on May 8, 1984. So the new flavor is already late to the game.
A fan has already started a petition to bring Satisfy My Bowl to this side of the pond. The plea on iPetitions seeks 5,000 signatures. It already has 2,359 as of September 4, 2014, so the petitioner is nearly halfway to his or her goal.

“Ben & Jerry’s just launched a new Bob Marley theme ice cream flavor called Satisfy My Bowl, and it’s not coming out in America!
I think we can all agree that this is a big mistake, and so we need to take action. With that in mind, I’ve started this petition, and once we get 5,000 signatures I’m going to email it to Ben & Jerry’s and try to convince them to make it a global flavor.”
Would you eat ice cream with a flavor profile created as an homage to Bob Marley, or is this just another flavor destined for the Ben & Jerry’s Flavor Graveyard?
