Emmy Rossum On ‘Shameless’ Character Fiona Gallagher: She’s Not That ‘Easy’

Emmy Rossum might play an easy character in Shameless, but she doesn’t want guys confusing her with Fiona Gallagher. In the show, the character is apparently willing to sleep with anybody, but in real life, Rossum isn’t like that.

Rossum claims that even though she has had sex on the first date before, it ended up turning into a long term relationship (by Hollywood standards). She describes herself as more of a “nerdy guy” type than a “jock” type and a little old-fashioned. It was the learning process involved with dating in the past that made her less likely to succumb to the standards of the modern dating scene.

Rossum apparently learned from her past mistakes and is much more cautious.

Could Rossum’s previous marriage to music executive Justin Seigel have led to her newfound wisdom in the dating scene? Usually a divorce tends to teach us things we ordinarily wouldn’t realize because it is literally too late by then.

Sam Esmail, the director of Emmy Rossum’s upcoming film Comet, is her new boyfriend. She admits that he is more of the “nerdy” type, and she likes that.

On the subject of dating, Rossum says:

“I feel like on the first date with a guy he’ll think I’m easy (like Fiona), and that’s so disconcerting.

“I once found a guy I was dating dirty-texting another woman and I completely lost my sh**

“Texting is so dangerous! I won’t even give guys my number, because I know me. We’ll start texting and he’ll start emoticon-ing and I’ll start emoticon-ing, and soon we have a big mess.”

On her previous marriage to Justin Seigel, Rossum added:

“I was so young, I don’t think I knew what marriage meant.

“My parents were never married, and I was teased in school and called a bastard. So the idea of marriage as safety forever was idealized in my head, and we rushed into it.”

Emmy Rossum isn’t the only one who has possibly given up on the idea of a “happy forever after” marriage. Liv Tyler is in no hurry to try again either, but doesn’t mind some more kids anyway, as previously reported by The Inquisitr.

Having learned from her past mistakes and denying she’s anything like her character Fiona Gallagher, it seems Rossum has learned from her experiences.

Would you date Emmy Rossum? If so, what would you expect from her, knowing that she’s not “loose” like the character she plays in Shameless?
