‘iPhone 6’ Rumors: Cases For Presale, Unveiling On Target

The release date for the new iPhone 6 is fast approaching. Let the rumors begin!

BGR is reporting that smartphone case maker Spigen has already created a website page for the exclusive launch of its own iPhone 6 cases, ahead of the official iPhone release date of September 9, with an expected launch date of September 19. Spigen used leaked photos and other data to create the new cases.

Spigen is taking a huge risk by basing any case off dummy phone or replica pictures since Apple will release nothing about the iPhone 6 before the actual release, meaning Spigen could get stuck with millions in unusable inventory. So Spigen will allow for preordering of these cases from their new iPhone 6 accessories webpage at Spigen.com.

“The iPhone 6 could be the largest iPhone launch ever,” Spigen wrote on their website. “With smartphones increasing in size, so have consumers demand for an iPhone with a larger screen. The iPhone 6 is here to answer that demand. It is all but assured that Apple will launch a 4.7 inch iPhone 6 this September. However, the more elusive 5.5 inch iPhone 6 is still mostly a mystery. Due to leaked data, we have a good idea of what the iPhone 6 will look like and we’ve included renders of what we believe to be some of the more accurate ones. Bigger but thinner and lighter are you excited about the new iPhone 6?”

Fast Company is reporting that the cases are priced from $15 to $35. Depending on how this shakes out, this move may be the gutsiest one in a long time. Rumors persist, however, that future iPhones would be using shatter-resistant Sapphire glass, which could make cases for most customers moot.

Apple Insider is adding fuel to the speculation fire. The website, quoting the Chinese social media site Weibo, says now the iPhone 6 is in PVT, or Product Validation Test, one of the final stages a product endures before final release. The media website claims the PVT yield rates are at 90 percent, which means final product building should begin soon. All of this points to the unveiling event going as scheduled for September 9. Though there has been talk that Apple is having difficulty with the 5.5 inch unit, but all feel confident that all new iPhone 6’s will be ready for the September 19 release date.

Though Apple has been quiet this year, some speculate the iPhone 6 will have orders in excess of 80 million, Along with expected updates to the iPad Air, iPad Mini, and iOS 8, Apple is expected to have a busy fall and winter.
