Celine Dion’s Home Intruder Drew a Bath, Ate a Pastry

I think that the only way Celine Dion’s warble will become tolerable is if she covers the bed intruder song now.

Dion and family were the victims of a bizarre home intrusion incident, though the singer, husband Rene Angelil and their children were not in the house at the time. The trespass occurred at Dion’s home in the Montreal suburb of Laval, and sounds mostly harmless- albeit very illegal and definitely, massively creepy.

Police in Laval caught the intruder, Daniel Bedard, red-handed, they say, after security systems in the singer’s home engaged. When questioned, Bedard admitted gaining unauthorized entry- by locating a garage door opener in an unlocked vehicle on the property. The home is not a full-time residence for the couple and their kids- they usually live in Florida- but the family uses the home when they’re back in Quebec.

Before police arrived on the scene, the man ‘raided’ Dion’s fridge and managed to chow down on some lingering items before deciding rather cheekily to take a bath. Laval police spokesman Franco Di Genova told press that when police, accompanied by a canine unit- happened upon Bedard, he was just about to settle in for a soak:

“He opened the water faucets, was pouring a nice warmish bath (and) he even managed to eat some pastry that was in the fridge,The suspect was coming down the big staircase and was asking: ‘Hey, guys what are you doing here?'”

DiGenova said police- who swept the home from the basement before finding the man and were probably expecting stealthy cat burglars- asked the perp the same question:

“So the officers replied: ‘What are you doing here?’ and they proceeded to put him under arrest.”

Laval resident Bedard was charged the following day with breaking and entering, auto theft and causing property damage.
