The Vampire Diaries Season Six Revealed

After the tense and surprising season finale, The Vampire Diaries has been renewed for its sixth season, which will air in October. Executive producer Julie Plec has already given some insight as to what to expect from the new season, including the title of its first episode, I Remember.

The Vampire Diaries fans are still shocked by the disappearance of the two primary characters Bonnie Bennett (Kat Graham) and Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder), but are also rejoicing over the return of the characters Lexi Branson (Arielle Kebbel) and Alaric Saltzman (Matt Davis). While Comic Con 2014 hinted at the return of Bonnie and Damon, no definitive information was given. In an interview with TVLine, Plec revealed, “They’ll be aware that they’re no longer where they thought they were-but they’re not dead, per se. They’ll be asking a lot of questions, along with the audience, including: What’s going on? Where the hell are we? And how do we get home?”

Sadly, Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) is heartbroken by the disappearance of her boyfriend, Damon, and fans are confused as to the future of the two. Fans claim that The Vampire Diaries would not be the same without the romantic couple. Plec commented, “I’ll just say that I think it’d be super sad for a young woman in her vibrant, early years to take her life and die on the sword for the love of a man. As much as I am a romantic and believer in true love, I also believe in therapy and trying to pull yourself together and getting on with your life.”

The return of Lexi and Alaric has made fans quite excited for the new season. However, The Vampire Diaries almost lost Davis after he expressed his disappointment with his infrequent appearances on the show. “It was very uncomfortable for me to come back as a guest star,” he said according to Digital Spy, “I felt very much removed and out of sync with the whole experience.” Davis was prepared to talk to Plec about leaving, but was brought back instead. “I was thrilled to be able to come back. I had felt very much in limbo with Alaric for the last two seasons. Now I feel like it’s even better than it was before.”

The much-anticipated season 6 of The Vampire Diaries will air on October 2nd on The CW at 8 P.M. Eastern time.
