Teenager Raped And Beat Girl For Ignoring One Text Message

A 19-year-old from Manchester, U.K., has been sentenced to jail time after being found guilty of rape, assault, and possessing an imitation firearm, after he viciously attacked a female friend because she “ignored” one of his text messages.

Daniel Plater, from Tyldesley in Greater Manchester, also tried to strangle his victim and set fire to her pajamas because he became enraged that she had not responded to him after he sent her a text message.

At the time he sent the message, the victim was out partying with her friends on New Year’s Eve and hadn’t gotten around to checking her phone for a few hours.

Having arrived at the victims house, Plater went into a rage while waving an air pistol type hand gun and saying to the girl: “I have a surprise for you,” before striking her in the head with the weapon. He threatened her with the words:”You don’t know the kind of thing I am capable of. I do not feel like letting you live.”

The girl was then raped, and Plater also forced her to carry out a sexual act on him, with the gun pointed at her head. After attempting to strangle her and setting fire to her pajamas, the victim managed to escape and call the police.

When officers arrived, they found the suspect loitering outside the property and duly arrested him.

The court heard how the victim is now “struggling to cope” with everyday life since the incident took place. As Detective Constable Dorothy Orr, from Greater Manchester Police, said after the court case:

“This was a terrible act that has deeply affected the victim. For reasons only known to Plater himself, he was jealous and attempted to control her. When she did not reply to his text, something inside him snapped and he decided to take his anger out in the most horrific of ways. Plater had clearly thought about what he was going to do by taking a gun. After the initial call to police, Plater was arrested and is now serving time behind bars for the violent and terrifying crime he committed on an innocent young woman.”

The Liverpool Crown Court sentenced Plater to ten-and-a-half years behind bars.
