Man Arrested For Stabbing A Watermelon

A Connecticut man is facing threatening and other charges after he reportedly stabbed a watermelon in front of a woman.

According to ABC News, the 49-year-old man of Thomaston allegedly carved up the watermelon in a passive-aggressive manner in front of a woman who had earlier reported the same man to the police for having drugs.

On July 4, the woman reported to the local police that Carmine Cervellino kept drugs, including marijuana, in his tool box. Cervellino was not arrested after the woman reported the incident.

The woman returned home sometime after reporting the first incident to find a watermelon sitting on the counter with a butcher knife sticking out of its flesh. She claims that Cervellino came into the room and began to menacingly carve the watermelon with the knife in a threatening manner.

Although it is not a crime in Connecticut to carve up a watermelon while angry, it is illegal to threaten someone in a suggestively aggressive manner while carving a watermelon or using a knife for any other reason. The watermelon stabbing incident has raised eyebrows and caused some laughing at the thought of someone angrily stabbing a watermelon and being arrested for it, but the case holds a more serious note to it not to be taken lightly.

An officer close to the case commented that the man was arrested for stabbing the watermelon in front of the woman because he used “passive aggressive tactics to intimidate her because he is angry at her.”

Cervellino was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and threatening in the second degree because he stabbed the watermelon in such a way. He was arraigned on Monday and released after he managed to post $500 bond over the watermelon stabbing incident. Cervellino’s case was then transferred to Family Services, according to Thought Catalog.

No one from the Cervellino home was able to be reached for comment regarding the watermelon incident.
