Puppy Freed From Car Wheel: Firefighters Free Puppy Stuck In The Center Of Tire Rim

A puppy is freed from a car wheel after two firefighters got together and rescued him. Managing to cram his head inside the center of a tire rim, the pitbull pup found himself in a tight spot while he was playing with his seven other siblings on the porch at home.

The puppy’s owner carried the tire over to the Kern County Fire Department in east Bakersfield, California to get help in removing her small canine from the tight spot he was in. According to 11 Alive, the puppy, named Junior, is happily out of his trapped situation. Station 41 spokesman, Brandon Hill, says firefighters freed the puppy from the car wheel by using vegetable oil.

CBS Local reports Hill as saying that Junior was “definitely not a happy camper when that was going on.” He notes:

“I think he was just being a puppy.”

It took ten minutes of wiggling around to get Junior’s head out of the tire rim. He let everyone know he was none too pleased with the commotion. Stuck in a vulnerable position without any control, it’s an understandably uncomfortable situation for a dog to be in. When Junior was finally freed from the wheel, he was a lot happier!

The tire rim appears to be from an older vehicle that the puppy’s owner has at home. The circular center of the hub was just large enough to allow Junior’s head through. As a lot of animals tend to do at times, they can get into a bad spot, but can’t get get out of it. Pitbulls have rather large heads to begin with, even as puppies.

11 Alive reports that Kern County fire fighters are gaining quite the reputation as puppy rescuers. In April 2012 they rescued a puppy from a tractor part that had a 2 1/2″ hole, earlier this year an Australian shepherd mix was freed after being trapped in a pike, and in January 2012, they saved four dogs from a house fire — even reviving one at the scene! The report goes on to say that perhaps the most amazing rescue by the Kern County Fire Department was when they took in seven homeless puppies and found them all good homes.

Another dramatic rescue that recently occurred is also reported on by The Inquisitr. A golden retriever was saved by a man who had to break a car window in order to save him.

Fortunately, the puppy freed from the car wheel in this story is safe and didn’t suffer any injuries.
