Adorable Bear Cub Charms The Oregon Police Taking Care Of Her

Sometimes a simplistic tragedy can bring forth something adorable. In this case, an adorable bear cub became a charming animal in the care of Oregon police after she was brought in by a family who found her all alone.

According to a report by Fox News, the 12-lb bear cub was placed in a plastic storage bin then dropped off at the Myrtle Creek police station by a teen and his parents. The teen stated he heard the bear cub whimpering in the bushes right outside his house on the outskirts of town. Upon investigation, she popped out. Though what the teen and his family did for the bear cub was admirable, the teen did put himself in danger. By picking her up, the teen endangered himself if the mother bear was nearby. She would have mauled the hapless teen into smithereens, especially since female black bears can grow up to 300 lbs.

Don Brown, the Myrtle Creek Police chief, said that if anyone were to come across a bear cub – or any wildlife for that matter – in distress, one should contact the proper authorities to retrieve the animal. This is for the overall safety of everyone involved, including the animal.

Later on, the Myrtle Creek police, along with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, returned to the spot where the bear cub was found. They used a device which emulated a bear cub’s distress call in hopes of enticing the mother bear out. Unfortunately, after an extensive search of the area, no mother bear was found. It is unknown what happened to her but by the signs of malnutrition the bear cub shown, the signs are not good.

There is a pleasant light at the end of the tunnel of woe though. According to the Examiner, the Myrtle Creek police spent an enjoyable night with the charming bear cub. They fed her, played with her to keep her amused, and by what reports say, she was well-behaved. Eventually, she is expected to find a loving home at the Oregon Zoo, but at this moment, an zoo will be fine as long as she can be charming there, as she was with the Myrtle Creek police.
