Maroon 5 Launching Fifth Album: Group Teams Up With Former Keyboardist On New ‘V’ LP

Maroon 5 is releasing a new album titled V, due out September 2. The band let fans know the good news on Monday, and Adam Levine made an announcement on The Voice.

Billboard reports that Maroon 5 is reuniting with longtime keyboard player, Jesse Carmichael. He left the group in 2012 to “pursue more full time studies in music and the healing arts.” The band is also collaborating with producers Max Martin, Benny Blanco, Ryan Tedder, Shellback and Sam Martin.

Zap2it informs readers that the V stands for the roman numeral 5 and that the first single will be released this summer. Maroon 5 plans to announce tour dates within the next few weeks; they just signed a worldwide tour contract with Live Nation.

Three weeks ago, the group hyped up their new album with a post on Instagram, and Levine captioning it with “Guess what we’re working on? #album5.”

The V album comes out via Interscope Records and is the band’s fifth album. Their 2012 album, Overexposed, was a massive success with the top hit singles “Payphone,” “Daylight,” “Love Somebody” and “One More Night” (spent nine weeks on the Hot 100). Overexposed was at number 2 on the Billboard 200.

The Grammy Award-winning Maroon 5 have sold albums going on to gold and platinum in 35 countries. The Hollywood Reporter highlights the fact that the group achieved this by selling 17 million albums globally. Their debut album was Songs About Jane with their second being It Won’t be Soon Before Long. That one went double-platinum and had hits “Makes Me Wonder” and “If I Never See Your Face Again.” Maroon 5 released their third studio album Hands All Over and went certified platinum. The two hit singles on that album include “Misery” and “Moves Like Jagger.”

Overexposed is Maroon 5’s fourth album and the hit single “Daylight,” topped number one on the Top 40 and Hot AC radio charts. The band even set a record for the most number one hit spots by a group in the 20-year history of the Billboard Top 40. That album was also included in one of the “highest-grossing tours of 2013 with over $50 million in ticket sales,” THR reports.

As previously reported by Inquisitr, Adam Levine has no plans to leave Maroon 5 to go solo. The Voice judge is predicted to sign on for season 7 of the show and remain with the group. He’s been in the news for his platinum blonde hair and teasing fans about the fifth album by Maroon 5 due out this Fall.
