‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Trailer Shows Off The Team And The Humor [Video]

The new Guardians of the Galaxy trailer gives us a look at the team in action, and even throws some humor in. Rumored to be tied in with the rest of the Marvel cinematic universe, GOTG takes the more comical route inspired by the comics, poking fun at itself as often as it kicks butt.

For the uninitiated, the team involves a psychotic humanoid, a crazed raccoon who hates being called a raccoon, an assassin, a renowned criminal (or so he says), and a talking tree man. The trailer tells us they are all criminals, but they’re stuck together for the greater good. Starring Vin Diesel (Riddick), Dave Bautista (WWE), Zoe Saldana (Star Trek: Into Darkness), Bradley Cooper (The Hangover), and Chris Pratt (The LEGO Movie), the new Guardians of the Galaxy trailer isn’t afraid to have some fun with its story. At one point in the trailer, we even see John C. Reilly, someone who’s no stranger to comedy (especially alongside Will Ferrell).

One scene in the trailer has Chris Pratt introducing himself to his would-be captors as Peter Quill, and then emphasizing his status as a legendary outlaw known as Star-Lord. This apparently confuses them enough to allow him to escape using thruster devices on his belt. Oddly, this routine reminds us a little bit of Ryan Reynolds, minus the potty humor.

Also in the GOTG trailer, we finally get to hear the voices of Rocket Raccoon and Groot, the latter of which is a little underwhelming. Of course, Groot allegedly won’t be known as a chatterbox, with only two lines in the whole movie. That’s probably an easy payday for Vin Diesel, who likely had more to do in The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift (he had a cameo at the end).

Dave Bautista’s Drax the Destroyer gives us what we know him for, basically being a musclebound maniac. Only Dwayne Johnson has ever escaped the WWE to become a relatively decent actor without needing his physique to prove himself.

What do you think of the new Guardians of the Galaxy trailer? Does it make you excited to see the upcoming film?
