Bodies Of Aborted Babies Burned To Generate Electricity In Oregon
The bodies of aborted babies were burned to generate electricity in Oregon, prompting major changes for the incinerator and a promise that policies will be fixed.
The Marion County board of commissioners ordered an incinerator there to stop accepting boxed medical waste after it was found that the waste included the bodies of babies that had been aborted in Canada.
Sam Bretnano, chairman of the Marion board of commissioners, said the board is taking immediate action to stop burning aborted babies at the plant.
“We provide an important service to the people of this state and it would be a travesty if this program is jeopardized due to this finding,” he said in a statement. “We thought our ordinance excluded this type of material at the waste-to-energy facility. We will take immediate action to ensure a process is developed to prohibit human tissue from future deliveries.”
The medical waste had been shipped from the British Columbia Health Ministry. In an email to the B.C. Catholic, a religious news organization, officials with the ministry’s communications branch admitted that “biomedical waste,” which includes “human tissue, such as surgically removed cancerous tissue, amputated limbs and fetal tissue,” is “disposed of through appropriate contacted providers.”
Officials said the medical waste was handled according to “health and safety protocols, as well as federal, provincial, and local regulations.”
But the story of aborted babies being burned to generate electricity has caused quite a controversy, with news outlets nationwide picking up on the strange case.
The case is striking similar to one that emerged in March from the United Kingdom. While the Oregon case involved the bodies of aborted babies being burned to generate electricity, in the UK it was found that both aborted and miscarried babies were incinerated to power a hospital. One report estimated that as many as 15,500 babies were used to generate power at several different hospitals.
