Vladimir Putin Drowning? President Barack Obama Would Save Russia’s Leader [Video]

If Vladimir Putin was drowning President Barack Obama says he would save Russia’s leader. Unfortunately, although that’s a nice sentiment things could not otherwise be more tense between the two world leaders.

In a related report by The Inquisitr, Russia is claiming Obama and the CIA are pushing Ukraine to confront the pro-Russian separatists, and Putin is already promising that Russia will use military force if they believe their interests are being threatened. Putin also made the news for claiming the internet was a CIA conspiracy theory in addition to sending Tu-95 bombers to buzz the airspace of the United States and several countries in Europe.

The hypothetical question about Russia’s leader drowning came up during a question-and-answer session where Vladimir Putin fielded questions from Russians for about four hours. At one point it was asked if eastern Ukraine was annexed like Crimea would Putin consider annexing Alaska next. Putin joked, “What would you need Alaska for? Russia already has enough cold territory.” While most of the questions were about the Ukraine crisis, others asked about general economic concerns and natural disasters that had occurred in the country recently.

But the Vladimir Putin interview took an interesting turn when a six-year-old Russian girl asked Putin if he thought President Obama would have him if he were ever to be drowning. Putin responded that, while he does not have a personal relationship with the United States president, he believed Obama to be a “good man” and assumed Barack would jump into the water to save him.

Now President Obama happened to be speaking at a press conference in South Korea today and a reporter apparently thought it’d be funny to pose the question to the president: would Vladimir Putin save Obama from drowning? While Obama left the question unanswered during the conference, he did tell ABC News what his answer would be in regards to him saving Putin:

“I absolutely would save Mr. Putin if he were drowning. I’d like to think that if anybody is out there drowning, I’m going to save him. I used to be a pretty good swimmer, I grew up in Hawaii, though a little out of practice.”
