Demi Lovato Believes ‘American Idol’ Contestant Jena Irene Is Destined For Stardom
Demi Lovato has selected the American Idol contestant she believes will have a very long and fruitful career.
The singer definitely knows a thing or two about how to survive in the music industry. After a successful stint on the Disney series Sonny with a Chance, Lovato decided to shift gears and focus solely on recording songs. She just wrapped up the North American leg of her Neon Lights Tour, a series of shows she could follow up with a new album later this year.
During her recent chat with American Idol host Ryan Seacrest, Demi Lovato shared her thoughts and feelings about the current season of FOX’s long-running singing competition. While she enjoys this year’s batch of contestants, there’s one person she believes is on her way to fortune and glory.
“I think the contestants are really good. I think everyone has to let lose a little bit, though. I was still waiting for the big hurrah,” Lovato explained.
The singer added, “[Jena Irene is] really good. She’s a star for sure.”
In addition discussing her favorite contestant on American Idol, Seacrest inquired about Lovato’s departure from The X Factor. Since she’s busy fostering her own career at the moment, she doesn’t spend too much time thinking about her role as a mentor on the program.
“That’s exactly the reason why I don’t miss judging right now because being on the road and seeing the faces of my fans, literally face-to-face, right in front… it’s just so incredible,” Demi told Seacrest during their behind-the-scenes conversation.
Lovato announced late last year that she was bidding farewell to The X Factor. Instead of sticking around to help people find their way into the music industry, Demi jumped ship to focus on her Neon Lights Tour.
“I wouldn’t call it I’m taking the year off… I’m getting ready to go on a bunch of tours that I’m planning and that I’ve announced. I’m going to start the Neon Lights tour, which is going to be an awesome show that I’ve never done before,” she said in a statement towards the end of 2013.
Demi continued, “I started the show being a singer and a musician, and so I’m going to go back to that. It’s been really great, but I’m so excited for 2014. I’m going to dedicate it completely and entirely to music — touring and making a new album. Possibly releasing one.”
