Katy Perry Announces New Single, Posts ‘Birthday’ Artwork On Twitter [Photos]

Katy Perry hasn’t finished mining her latest album for hits just yet.

Since there’s plenty of life left in the singer’s hit record Roar, Perry decided to put yet another single into rotation. Folks who still listen to the radio should expect “Birthday” to find its way into their ears very soon. According to MTV News, the tune was released last Thursday (April 3).

To let the world know about the new single, Katy Perry posted the artwork for “Birthday” on Twitter. Instead of hiring a pricey shutterbug and posing for a few snapshots, the singer decided to use a pic from her family photo album. Even if you don’t enjoy Perry’s music, you have to admit that the image is kind of adorable.

Check out the artwork in question below.

So what’s the deal with the other little girl? Is she gesturing in a fashion that isn’t appropriate for the masses? Apparently Katy Perry withheld sister Angela Hudson’s face until her fans managed to get the hashtag #Birthday to trend worldwide. Only then would she allow these faithful followers to gawk at an old photo of her sibling.

True to her word, Perry delivered the goods.

If you’d like to celebrate the release of the singer’s latest single in a slightly unusual way, then you should hop a flight to London at some point in the near future. According to the Daily Mail, Madame Tussauds recently debuted a Katy Perry wax statue that looks a lot like the real deal.

“We are delighted to be welcoming Katy Perry’s wax figure from Madame Tussauds Sydney. Her outfit is breath-taking and totally fantastical. We wanted to create a setting equally as fantastic and as Katy is famous for some deliciously over the top candy-themed performances, a sweet-themed set seemed the perfect tribute!” Madame Tussauds’ Nicole Fenner explained.

Have a look at the stature below.
