Katie Holmes Abandons Fashion Label, Wants To Focus On Acting

Katie Holmes recently said goodbye to her fashion label to focus on acting.

Although she seemed determined to help people fill their closets with clothing of her own design, Holmes has since shifted her energies to other projects. The Inquisitr previously reported that the former Dawson’s Creek star recently landed a pilot over at ABC.

Since Katie Holmes doesn’t have time for her fashion label at the moment, she decided to sever her partnership with stylist Jeanne Yang. Despite what you may have read elsewhere, she isn’t walking away from Holmes & Yang because of rift in their relationship.

During her recent interview with Elle magazine, Katie Holmes explained that she cherishes the time spent working at the fashion label. However, she’s ready to get her acting career back on the right track. Unfortunately, this means Katie doesn’t have time to design clothes at the moment.

“I loved every minute of my time working on Holmes & Yang. I remained passionate about the design aesthetic we created, and am so happy with what Jeanne and I accomplished. However I am now concentrating on acting and motherhood, which did not leave the label the time and attention it deserved,” Katie recently told the publication.

Us Weekly reports that news of Katie Holmes’ decision to split from the fashion label first arrived earlier this month. Rumors suggested that the actress decided to end her professional relationship with the stylist after Yang spilled some beans about her business partner’s divorce from Tom Cruise.

“I’m really thrilled that the final showcase for Holmes & Yang is in ‘Elle’ — I had a blast at my shoot for the magazine. It is fantastic to feel like it’s ending on a high,” Holmes added.

As mentioned, Katie recently landed a TV pilot over at ABC. Loosely based on Dangerous Liasons, Holmes portrays a woman who becomes the target of two nefarious individuals who want to ruin her life. Dark City star Rufus Sewell co-stars in the series.

Behind the Candelabra writer Richard LaGravenese will spearhead the drama, which gives Katie her first starring role since the popular 90s show Dawson’s Creek. Holmes has a few big screen endeavors lined up as well, including The Giver with Meryl Streep, writer-director Christian Camargo’s Days and Nights, and the vigilante flick Miss Meadows.
