Piers Morgan Wants To Work Less, Do More ‘Big Interviews’

Piers Morgan doesn’t seem too depressed about losing his CNN chat show.

After failing to find an audience in its 9 pm time slot, the cable news network decided to kick Morgan’s program to the curb. Since the host definitely has his fair share of detractors in the US, it’s not altogether surprising that Piers’ show never caught fire.

“CNN confirms that ‘Piers Morgan Live’ is ending. The date of the final program is still to be determined,” the network said in a recent statement.

Although CNN is keeping Morgan on-tap for specials and interviews, his television program will soon become a thing of the past. Judging from Piers’ recent chat with the folks at TMZ, he doesn’t seem too bothered by the idea.

During his impromptu interview with the website, Piers Morgan said he didn’t have any regrets about his controversial stance on gun control. He also gave TMZ a little insight into where he’s headed next.

“I come from a country where we don’t have guns. I feel strongly about it, but I understand that not every American shares my view, so I’m ready to move on,” Morgan said.

The talk show host is taking the “less is more” approach to work going forward. Instead of doing lots of shows with smaller celebrities, he wants to more big interviews without all that unsightly small-time filler.

“I’m ready to move on. I came to do the show to do big interviews. I wasn’t doing enough. I want to do less shows, more big interviews.,” Morgan explained. However, he didn’t give any indication when the last episode of his talk show will hit the digital airwaves.

One person who probably isn’t sad about Piers Morgan’s current state of affairs is singer Charlotte Church. She recently sat down for a chat with Stylist magazine, a conversation that included her thoughts about the controversial talk show host.

Church once debated with Morgan regarding the phone hacking scandal at the tender age of 17. Piers’ defense of the practice left the singer with a very poor opinion of the host. In fact, she thinks he’s a pretty nasty “p****.”

“His argument basically centered around, ‘You’re rich, you’re making money out of this, who the f*** are you to question it?’ I was like, ‘I hate you!’ I wanted to storm out and it took all my strength not to, and in that talk he basically told me about phone hacking and everything,” she told the publication.
