Jean-Claude Van Damme Epic Split Spoofed By Congressional Candidate [Video]

The Jean-Claude Van Damme epic split Volvo commercial has been spoofed by Georgia Congressional candidate and Obamcare foe Mike Collins.

As you may recall, the “Muscles from Brussels” generated a lot of buzz when by performing his trademark split between two Volvo trucks.

The ad has been parodied by Channing Tatum as well as Delov Digital featuring Chuck Norris, among others, and Collins — ironically the owner of a trucking company — decided to follow suit in a campaign ad.

Collins is one of several Republican candidates running in Georgia’s 10th Congressional District; the seat is becoming vacant because incumbent Representative Paul Broun is running for US Senate in 2014. The multi-candidate GOP primary is scheduled for May 20, and the winner is likely to prevail in the November general election.

Collins follows the Van Damme voice-over narration to some extent, but then puts his own campaign stamp on it:

Starting a trucking business I’ve had my ups and down, my fair share of bumpy roads and heavy winds. That’s what’s made me what I am today. Now I stand here before you — what you see is a small businessman, confronted with Obamacare, a disastrous government plan that defies the laws of the market and a mindset that government knows better.”

Politico observed that there is one key difference between the Van Damme and Mike Collins ads: “While Collins’s version may have the Enya soundtrack, the moving trucks, and even grip gloves, the candidate comes up slightly short when it comes to matching Van Damme’s famed flexibility.”

Further on the subject of politics, in case you’re wondering, yes, someone made a Van Damme epic split parody with the image of Toronto Mayor Rob Ford instead of the martial arts star.

Visual effects studio Artjail explained that “We were completely in awe of the Volvo Van Damme Epic Splits spot. And remain completely in awe of Mayor Ford’s Epic lifestyle north of the border.”
