Zsa Zsa Gabor was “the original Kim Kardashian ,” but Gabor’s BFF doesn’t like that comparison. According to Hollywood Life, Edward Lozzi hates the “Kardashian connection” so much that he says it makes him sick!
Gabor was the first person to be a truly “career-free” celebrity, and she did it “first and best” according to the Washington Post. Gabor dabbled in everything, from Hollywood movies, to marrying royalty, to exercise videos, to outrageous behavior like punching a Beverly Hills cop, then “allegedly” refusing to use anything but Evian water for her baths while she served a three-day jail sentence.
Zsa Zsa was a “hot blonde,” who was savvy enough to marry a millionaire shortly after emigrating to Hollywood from Hungary. She parlayed that marriage into opportunity by sheer force of personality and managed to stay “famous by looking and acting famous.”
She even had two gorgeous sisters, Eva and Magda Gabor, who rocked Hollywood by her side. The three Gabor sisters were “infamous for their influence, power and beauty!”
“She was, simply, an invention of herself.”
That all sounds a lot like the Kardashian sisters, Kim, Khloe, and Kourtney, who are often said to be famous for being famous. Gabor paved the way and “rouge’d a trail” for famous celebrities like Ivana Trump (President-Elect Donald Trump’s first wife), Kim Kardashian, and Paris Hilton, who also happens to be connected to Zsa Zsa. Hilton’s great-grandfather was Gabor’s second husband.
The Gabor sisters, especially Zsa Zsa, personified “celebrity-for-celebrity’s sake” and shocked people of the 1940s and 50s with their attitudes, but today’s reality show world would have been perfect for Zsa Zsa.
The Daily Beast reports that, like the Kardashians, Zsa Zsa now and her “over-the-top glamour” would have “been right at home” in a world of reality television, selfies, Twitter, and Instagram. Gabor and Kim Kardashian are both women “who not only didn’t mind living life in front of a camera, but much preferred it.”
But Lozzi isn’t buying the comparison to Kim, Khloe, and Kourtney Kardashian , and doesn’t think it’s accurate at all. In an interview with NBC News, Zsa Zsa’s publicist and best friend seemed to indicate that Gabor was in a different class.
“I hate it when there’s been comparisons [of] when the Gabors were at their peak — quoted everywhere and in photos with kings and queens and international playboys — and then there’s comparisons to the Kardashians, which makes me sick.”
Zsa Zsa was definitely in a different class from the Kardashians when it came to marriages. She was married to a “whopping” eight different men before marrying Prince Frederic von Anhalt, Zsa Zsa’s husband at the time of her death.
Aside from the numerous ex-husbands and lovers, Gabor’s celebrity looks a lot like Keeping Up With the Kardashians celebrity. Zsa Zsa, Eva, and Magda even had their own version of momager, Kris Jenner, to help them on the road to fame.
Their “prosperous parents pushed the three Gabor sisters to remain upwardly mobile,” and made sure they had everything they needed for success.
In a 1988 profile of Gabor , the Washington Post’s Henry Allen wrote some “telling” words about the star, words that are very reminiscent of Kim, Khloe, Kourtney, and their Jenner half-sisters, Kendall and Kylie.
“But she represents something big enough that she can get brought in by the Washington International Horse Show this week to ride her horse around the ring seven or eight times, wave to the crowd and leave . What did she represent? The American dream, or a version of it.”

Gabor died on December 18 from a heart attack at the age of 99. She would have turned 100 years old in February 2017 .
