WWE News: CM Punk Says Superstar Has Been Texting Him For Match At ‘WrestleMania 36’

With WrestleMania 36 confirmed to go forward, WWE has to act quickly to fill the card with matches. On last night’s Monday Night Raw , Edge challenged Randy Orton to a Last Man Standing Match at the forthcoming event, and this got many people talking on social media. Among these people was CM Punk, who claimed that one WWE superstar had been texting him and begging to give him a match.

On Monday, WWE announced that WrestleMania 36 will no longer be held in Tampa, and will instead be moved to the WWE Performance Center. No fans will be present for the proceedings. While the event only boasted five confirmed matches at the time — despite being scheduled to take place in less than two weeks — Raw has now started to fill out the card.

The potential matchup at WrestleMania will be the first singles match for Edge in more than nine years.

“Oooooo. Yeah that for sure sucks,” CM Punk tweeted in reply to a fan pointing out that Edge would be performing without a live audience.

While the WWE Performance Center won’t have a single fan in attendance due to the coronavirus outbreak, numerous fans will be watching WrestleMania on the WWE Network.

A fan asked Punk if he was “begging for a return?” on Twitter, and went on to say that Punk begged for a return on WWE Backstage — and that “no crowd reaction seems to be your element.”

Punk responded with a bit of a bombshell, or pipe-bomb if you will.

I’m not the one texting begging for a match with me at mania. ?

CM Punk did not divulge any further information, and never said who was allegedly texting him to beg for a match. Fans began throwing out their thoughts and ideas, but the former WWE champion offered no more clues.

It has been speculated that Punk would end up returning to the WWE ring at some point or another, these rumors intensifying once he joined WWE Backstage . There has been no serious indication that he’ll ever wrestle again, but he still has dedicated fans clamoring for him to return.

CM Punk has seemed content on Backstage as a panelist. He’s often been very truthful on Twitter, and his claim of someone texting him for a match at WrestleMania 36 is potentially plausible. It is unclear if WWE has the time to set up a return that big on such short notice, and it isn’t confirmed that Punk will wrestle again in any event.
