This report is a breaking news update about a woman’s fall that turned deadly at popular Colorado destination point, Royal Gorge. According to the county’s medical examiner, the victim on Monday’s fatal plunge is identified as Denise McLean.

Fremont County Coroner, Randy Keller, told media outlets that McLean, 45, of Wylie, Texas died from severe trauma sustained when she slipped and fell some 400 feet. The woman’s death is ruled an accident, and no foul play is suspected, as police investigators said a short time after her body was found, citing a KKTV report.

Presumably, the woman stood on the observation deck near some rocks at Royal Gorge Bridge & Park moments before she lost her footing. The coroner believes she had slipped or stumbled before she fell to her death . Early on, police put out a bulletin as a “missing persons report.” The woman was last seen near the north entrance to the parking lot, which is located close to the Royal Gorge.

Police suspended search efforts when lighting conditions decreased. A search party began operations first thing the next day. About 9 a.m., the woman’s mortal remains were found near the face of the cliff.

This tragic story comes two months after a man fell to his death in Nevada. As the Inquisitr wrote previously, “Apparently, the 29-year-old man who hails from Las Vegas slipped and fell over the Canyon’s edge about 4:20 p.m. MST. He was visiting the park with his family at the time, according a spokesperson with the National Park Service.”

With the Fourth of July approaching, officials at the Royal Gorge don’t want a repeat of the woman who suffered fatal fall. They are vigilant and understand that odds for accidents rise as more people converge on the park.
