Wayne Static, the frontman and founder of metal band Static-X, passed away on the evening of November 1. He was just 48-years-old, and per MTV News , the announcement of his death came from his representative early on Sunday morning.

There has been very little information released about his death, including a possible cause, but there are some sites saying that Wayne Static allegedly died of an overdose.

As People reported, Static formed the band back in 1994 after his previous group Deep Blue Dream faded out and was taken apart. Five years later, Static-X saw their debut album called Wisconsin Death go platinum. It was just the first of five albums the band would release, and the last was Cult of Static in 2009.

Wayne Static was very well known on the metal scene and also respected and well-liked. He made a huge impact on the rock world, and his death quickly brought about a number of rockers mourning his loss and letting their thoughts be known via social media.

Corey Taylor of Slipknot, Jonathan Davis of Korn, Ozzy Osbourne, David Ellison of Megadeath, Aaron Lewis of Staind, David Draiman of Disturbed, and many others jumped on Twitter and Instagram to share their thoughts. It’s truly a sad day for the music world, and now you can see some of the thought of rockers below as they mourn Static’s death.

As you can see, there are some close to Static who also believe it was an overdose that ended up taking their friend. More information on the actual cause of death of Wayne Static will come in the followings days and weeks.

After Static-X disbanded, he went on to pursue a solo career, and even had some huge tours coming up later this year and next year with big bands such as Drowning Pool and Powerman 5000.
