A Walmart rival sale has been launched to compete with the Amazon Prime Day sale . The Walmart vs. Amazon battle to achieve complete domination of the retail market appears to be heading into extended innings.

The Walmart rival sale will begin on Wednesday, July 15, just like the Amazon Prime Day sale. The big box store has reportedly added 2,000 online rollback exclusives to entice customers to spend their money with Walmart instead of Amazon.

The Walmart sale includes items in the home, baby, toys, and electronics categories. Like typical rollback sales, the prices will be good for 90 days. On Monday, the store reduced the minimum order amount necessary to receive free shipping from $50 to $35. The free shipping deal is reportedly good for at least the next 30 days. When shopping prime offerings, customers always receive free 2-day shipping on Amazon.

Amazon was chastised by Walmart for making Prime Day sale prices open only to those who sign up for the $99-per-year service. Amazon Prime subscriptions also include instant access to ten of thousands television episodes, movies, and music streamed immediately to your devices upon selection.

In a Monday Walmart blog post, the store stated that it is “standing up for our customers and everyone else who sees no rhyme or reason for paying a premium to save.”

“We’ve heard some retailers are charging $100 to get access to a sale. We just don’t believe you should pay a fee to get a better price,” the Walmart statement read. “But the idea of asking customers to pay extra in order to save money just doesn’t add up for us.”

The Amazon Prime Day sale has been billed as a “bigger than Black Friday” extravaganza. A Prime membership free trial is available for one month. Customer credit cards are not charged unless they forget to cancel the free trial. So, shopping the members-only deals could be accomplished for free. Many Prime members who frequently shop online consider the $99 annual fee a money-saver due to the quick and free shipping offered with each subscription.

Although it is July, some customers might take advantage of the great deals at both Walmart and Amazon to stock up on Christmas presents and back to school items.
