A Utah woman who has made a hobby out of catching wedding bouquets has applied for admission for the Guinness World Record book.

Jamie Jackson, says that she has caught 46 bouquets since 1996 and has documentation to prove it.

Jackson told KSL that she gets invited to a large number of weddings because her family makes a lot of connections through participating in musical theater and through their church. She estimates that she has attended between 80 and 100 weddings over the years.

The Salt Lake City resident says she caught her first wedding bouquet in 1996, and because of what she calls her “competitive nature” and “as luck would have it,” she caught several more over the next few years. It became a hobby for her, and she began making plans to catch the bouquet at every wedding she attended. Jackson jokingly calls bouquet catching her “sport.”

“It is something that you have to plan for and you have to be very strategic where you place yourself,” Jackson said, laughing.

“My strategy is to be right up in the front because a lot of times the brides don’t know how far they are going to throw it. A lot of times it will hit a ceiling, it’ll hit a chandelier… I’ve had many, many catches where I’ve had to jump for it. And I’ve hit little kids by accident.”

After her bouquet catching became a running joke with her friends and family, Jackson decided to make it an official world record.

“Back in 2004, this girl Stephanie out of Pennsylvania, she made it an official record and she had 11. And I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, I have 35.’ I was like, ‘I have to break this record.’ ”

Jackson began the process of submission for the Guinness World Record and by August, 2014, had caught 46 bouquets. She then contacted all the brides whose bouquets she had caught to ask for the official documentation and photos she would need for proof to apply, and submitted the official application on Wednesday.

She said she was happy to learn that 44 of the 46 brides were still married.

“I consider myself a good luck charm, “Jackson said.

The Associated Press reports that Jackson is still single, disproving the myth that the woman who catches the bouquet at a wedding will be the next bride. She said that some people joke that she intentionally stays single just to catch more bouquets, but that isn’t true – she is just catching them for fun.

The Inquisitr also reported recently on another woman who broke the Guinness world record in different way — by giving birth to twins born 87 days apart.
